Forums can be found on the course page of any course type. To access a forum of a given MOOC, you must open the MOOC in question and on its course page click on one of the forums found in the General section of the course or any other part of the MOOC.
Forums are recognized by a card containing the word Forum and a white messaging icon that sits on an orange background
There are two types of forum on Moodle: the first is the news or announcements forum and the second type of forum is the activity forum which can be added by the teacher anywhere in the course.
The forum of news or announcements
It is automatically added to each course and is unilateral: only teachers can announce messages to students. There is only one per course.
Forum activity
It allows a real structured exchange with the students.
This is the type of forum in which students can participate by replying to threads or starting new threads.
This is the perfect place for students to ask questions about the course, help each other, or answer questions from other students.
The activities assessed on Moodle may vary depending on the learning objectives of the course and the preference of the instructor. However, here are some common examples of activities assessed on Moodle :
- Quiz : Quizzes are electronic tests to test students' knowledge of a specific subject.
- Assignments : Instructors can create online assignments where students submit their work online through the Moodle platform. Assignments can be of different types, such as essays, research papers, presentations, individual or group projects, etc. Once assignments have been submitted, instructors can assess them using Moodle's assessment tools, which include grades, comments and assessment rubrics. Instructors can also set up submission deadlines and penalties for late submitted assignments. Assignments can also be peer-reviewed or using predefined assessment criteria.
- Tasks : Tasks can be research work, essays, presentations, or other types of projects submitted online.
- Forum participation : Forums are online discussion areas where students can exchange ideas on specific topics. Instructors can gauge student participation by reviewing their contribution to discussions.
- Self-assessment tests : Self-assessment tests allow students to assess themselves and measure their level of understanding of a given subject.
There are several ways to ask questions about Moodle :- Discussion forums : Moodle offers discussion forums for each course where learners can ask questions and interact with other course participants. Teachers can also answer learners' questions via these forums.
- Private messages : Learners can also send private messages to teachers to ask questions or seek clarification on specific topics.

Generally at the end of each MOOC, a certificate of achievement is issued. The certificate is generally configured to be available only after validation of certain conditions established by the teaching. The conditions can be the completion of certain activities, a minimum mark obtained in a test or an assignment etc. Students must meet these requirements before they can access the certificate.
To directly access the documents or files of a course, you must be connected to the platform. Then, in the menu, click on Docs. In the page that will be displayed, click on the name of the course whose documents you want to access. This will lead to a page in which we will have a list of all the course documents that are available to us already checked. All that remains is to select/deselect the desired documents in order to download the desired ones.
